Canoeing and kayaking are low impact activities that involve paddling on rivers, lakes and the sea.
Kayaking – a kayak is a low-to-the-water vessel in which the paddler sits facing forward, legs in front, using a double-bladed paddle to pull front-to-back on one side and then the other in rotation. Kayaks can have closed decks or skirts, or may completely open such as sit-on-top.
Canoeing – a canoe is an open vessel and the person either sits or kneels inside the canoe and uses a single-bladed paddle to push the craft through the water.
