Organisational Overview
Outdoors Great Southern (OGS) aim is to improve the capacity and opportunity for residents and visitors to participate in outdoor activities in the Great Southern. As part of this aim, we provide participation programs for both children and adults throughout the year. Primary Purpose of the Role
Provide instruction in a variety of outdoor recreation activities for both Children and Adults on a casual basis.
About the Role
The position reports to and works under general supervision from the Outdoors Great Southern Community Program Coordinator. Participation programs are based in the Great Southern Region of WA and some travel maybe required.
Key Responsibilities
Duties involve basic group management and supervision, ensuring all participants understand the topics and are included. There will be a requirement to lead group activities and to participate in outdoor activities such as bushwalking, mountain biking, camping, and canoeing, and assist in group management for programs delivered by contract service providers in areas such as surfing and sailing.
Selection Criteria
The Casual Outdoor Recreation Instructor should have the following attributes:
Salary: Fitness Industry Award (MA000094). The Level to be determined based on qualifications and experience. Casual loading of 30% of the minimum hourly rate applies for each ordinary hour worked on Saturday and Sunday. While most conditions are covered in the employment contract, all other matters fall within the National Employments Standards
Hours of work: Mainly weekend work with potential for some weekdays. Minimum of 3 hours per day. May require overnight camps on weekends.
Additional Information
• Required qualifications: ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence, Working With Children Check, National Police Clearance, Current First Aid Certificate (inc CPR)
• Additional qualifications: Other industry qualifications such as paddling, roping, or mountain biking as well as water safety qualifications will be well received.
